LAS VEGAS — One of San Francisco Chinatown’s best-known restaurants is preparing to bring more than four decades of Cantonese cooking to the Las Vegas Strip.
R&G Lounge will open at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace later this year. The new restaurant will mark the brand’s first Las Vegas location and only its second restaurant overall.
Founded in San Francisco in 1985, R&G Lounge has built its reputation around authentic Cantonese cuisine, family traditions and warm hospitality. Moreover, generations of diners have visited the restaurant for celebrations, family dinners and special occasions.
Now, the family-owned restaurant is preparing for its next chapter.

A San Francisco favorite arrives in Las Vegas
R&G Lounge has remained a fixture in San Francisco’s Chinatown for more than 40 years. During that time, the restaurant has become known for several signature dishes.
Its famous Salt & Pepper Live Crab remains one of the biggest draws. The menu also features R&G Special Beef and other traditional Cantonese dishes. Meanwhile, the restaurant’s popular Lychee Martinis have become another longtime favorite.
The Las Vegas restaurant will introduce those traditions to a much larger mix of visitors.
The Forum Shops attracts shoppers and diners from around the world. Therefore, the location gives R&G Lounge an opportunity to reach both Las Vegas residents and international travelers.
“R&G Lounge has built an extraordinary reputation through its dedication to authentic Cantonese cuisine and creating memorable dining experiences,” said Lea Willingham, senior general manager at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
Willingham added that the restaurant will strengthen the destination’s already extensive dining collection.

Family remains at the heart of R&G Lounge
Although the expansion represents a major step, R&G Lounge plans to keep its family history at the center of the experience.
Christopher Hung, culinary director of R&G Lounge, described the Las Vegas opening as an exciting new chapter for both the family and restaurant.
“R&G Lounge has always been about more than serving great food,” Hung said. “It’s about bringing people together, celebrating culture and creating meaningful experiences around the table.”
That philosophy has helped the restaurant remain relevant through several generations.
In fact, the R&G name now carries an additional meaning for the family: “Roots & Generations.” The phrase reflects the restaurant’s goal of respecting its history while introducing its food to new diners.

Expanding a 40-year culinary legacy
Las Vegas has no shortage of celebrity chefs or high-profile restaurants. However, R&G Lounge arrives with something different.
Its reputation developed over decades in one of America’s most historic Chinatowns. Instead of quickly expanding across the country, the restaurant maintained its original San Francisco home while building a loyal following.
The Forum Shops location now represents a rare expansion for the business.
For Las Vegas diners, that means another notable Cantonese restaurant is joining an increasingly diverse Strip dining scene. It also gives longtime R&G Lounge customers a new place to enjoy familiar dishes while visiting Nevada.
Another major addition for The Forum Shops
The arrival comes during a period of continued change at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
The shopping destination is home to more than 160 luxury and fashion brands. In addition, its restaurants and entertainment venues have become a significant part of the overall visitor experience.
R&G Lounge will add another established name to that mix when it opens later in 2026.
An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
When the doors finally open, however, the restaurant will bring something that cannot be created overnight: more than 40 years of family history, Cantonese cooking and San Francisco tradition.
