Aviators pick up two victories as Rainiers take series at Las Vegas Ballpark
The Las Vegas Aviators homestand brought six straight nights of Pacific Coast League baseball to Las Vegas Ballpark from Aug. 4 through Aug. 9.
Las Vegas opened the series against the Tacoma Rainiers with an offensive showcase, winning 10-8 on Tuesday, Aug. 4. The victory improved the Aviators to 62-44 overall and 19-15 during the second half of the season.
However, Tacoma quickly responded.
Rainiers offense takes over
Tacoma erupted for six home runs Wednesday and defeated Las Vegas 16-10. The offensive explosion gave the Rainiers their first victory of the series and evened the matchup at one game apiece.
The Rainiers remained in control Thursday, Aug. 6, earning a 10-6 victory. Tacoma’s Cole Young and Harry Ford contributed to another productive night at the plate, while Las Vegas was unable to overcome the early damage.
The Aviators responded Friday.
Las Vegas earned a much-needed 4-2 victory on Aug. 7, improving to 63-46 overall. The Aviators’ pitching staff limited Tacoma and gave the home crowd something to celebrate after consecutive losses.
Tacoma closes series strong
The Las Vegas Aviators homestand turned back in Tacoma’s favor during the weekend.
The Rainiers defeated Las Vegas 4-2 on Saturday, Aug. 8, moving one victory away from securing the six-game series.
Sunday’s finale started promisingly for Las Vegas. The Aviators built an early advantage, but Tacoma rallied and eventually earned an 8-5 victory, taking the series four games to two. It marked Tacoma’s first series victory in Las Vegas in four years.
Across the six games, fans saw plenty of offense. The teams combined for 99 runs, including 26 during Wednesday’s high-scoring contest.
The series also represented the beginning of the Aviators’ season-long 12-game homestand. Las Vegas remains at Las Vegas Ballpark this week for six games against the Sacramento River Cats from Aug. 11 through Aug. 16.
Despite dropping four games to Tacoma, the Las Vegas Aviators homestand gives the club another immediate opportunity to respond in front of its home fans.
Las Vegas entered the stretch as the Triple-A affiliate of the Athletics and remains in the Pacific Coast League playoff picture as the 2026 season heads deeper into August.
